We posted an ad similar to this one about a month ago. Since then, following a chain of events the Federal Government has set into place, the demand for the services and products we provide has continued to increase exponentially to the point where things are happening in a rush and we are fast approaching critical mass. The Federal Trade Commission, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Administration, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision issued their final rules January 1, 2008 mandating that every business and employer in the United States, who maintains, or otherwise possesses, consumer information for a business purpose, must develop and implement certain security programs regarding this information or suffer potential civil or criminal liability.

The new laws apply to any business, regardless of size, that collects personal information or consumer reports about customers or employees to make decisions within their businesses (including names, credit card numbers, birthdates, home addresses and more). This means that every single business or employer in the U.S. handling credit cards, driver’s license numbers, social security numbers or other personally identifiable information MUST implement the aforementioned programs by November 1, 2008. All businesses must be able to show they have a security plan in place.
