www.lasvegasbassetrescue.com **UPDATE 7/1/09--Frankie originally came to LVBR from the shelter, with no info on his past--we thought he was a Basset mix--but maybe that's not the case. READ ON: Frankie!! Can it be true? Is Frankie really a rare breed of dog (in the U.S.) called a Drever? The Drever,also known as the Swedish Dachsbracke, does have the looks of a Basset mix. We just assumed he was a Basset mixed with something we couldn't identify. There isn't even a listing on Petfinder for a Drever, so we are leaving him as a Basset! LVBR was contacted by a family who owns a female Drever, after they spotted Frankie's picture on the internet. They were kind enough to send us info on the breed and pictures of their own dog. Well, we can't be sure that Frankie is a Drever (or even a Drever mix)--but Google "Drever Dog" or "Drever Dog Pictures" and decide for yourself. No matter what his lineage, Frankie has been waiting in rescue for a new home for OVER A YEAR now. He's 2 years old and deserves his own family. He weighs approx. 35 lbs. This is a wonderful dog--full of love, devotion, and personality. He doesn't care WHAT breed you call him--as long as you call him into your open arms.
